MCF Cyclonic Filter System Reintroduced!
Barnes is pleased to announce the reintroduction of the MCF Cyclonic Filter System!
With the MCF Filter it's now possible to achieve a high level of filtration
efficiency without the need of replaceable filter fabric. This also means the high cost of disposal is a thing of the past. The heart of the MCF is the highly efficient Barnes magnetic separator precleaner. Removing the bulk of contaminants magnetically improves efficiency and reduces wear on the system.
For more information on the Cyclonic or one of our other products, visit our brochure page.

Barnes Celebrates It's 102th Anniversary

102 Years' Strong and Forging Ahead
Bruce Frank Barnes of Rockford, Ilinois had no idea when he started Barnes Drill in 1907 in the heart of downtown Rockford that more than 100 years later it would grow into an international filtration company simply renamed Barnes International with worldwide alliances.
The transformations from a drill and tapping company that serviced the automotive industry with a variety of equipment evolved over time. In the late 1950's Barnes was the first machine tool builder to apply numerical controls to metalworking drills and boring machines. With automotive finishing requirements becoming more exact for engine cylinder bores. Barnes developed an abrasive process of honing for machining all types of bores to a very precise tolerance and surface finish. This innovation led the company to abandon the drills and push forth, and then in the 1980's under the Gollob family ownership, Barnes became involved in super abrasive honing with an alliance of a West German company.
These honing innovations created finite metal particles, sending them into the coolant and a need arose for cleaner coolant during the machining process, thus filtration requirements became more stringent. Led by the necessity for cleaner coolant, Barnes introduced magnetic separators to remove metallic sludge and the filtration products were born back in the 1950's. In 1990 Barnes added another alliance with Mosinc in Japan and Barnes was a worldwide player. At that time the name was changed to Barnes International, Inc.
The filtration products expanded during this time to include coolant filters such as paper media, vacuums, cyclonic and immersed drum filters. The products service the machine tool coolant cleaning of lathes, machining centers, milling machines and a variety of grinding applications.
The company has recently been experiencing rapid growth in filtration markets and sold off the honing company to accommodate their successful expansion. Barnes now has the ability to supply from stand alone to a system provider of filtration products. Barnes continues to look toward the future and is always striding toward the company goal of customer satisfaction and loyalty.

Above-floor Central Coolant System
Barnes International, synchronizing with the country’s growing environmental awareness, has developed a new line of high-powered filtration equipment designed to minimize fabric use in cast iron applications. In a recent business venture with a leading automotive parts manufacturer, an 860 gpm Central Coolant Filtration System used for cast iron grinding was purchased. This unit delivers clean, temperature controlled coolant to six grinders. Pump-back units return coolant & swarf (accumulation of fine particles of ground metal or abrasive.
A dual torque, spent media rewinder is an optional accessory for use with a vacuum media filter. This unit uses an air motor to drive the rewinding core. The media exiting the filter is pulled across a scraper to remove the swarf which is separable from the filter paper. It is then wound around a disposable 2"x4" wooden stud. Two infrared sensors are also included. One signals when the roll has reached a size where more torque is required to turn it. The second one signals an alarm when the roll has reached its maximum size and is ready for removal. A quick tug on a lever located opposite the drive, drops the spent roll into the included bin. The coolant system and its delivery and return systems are completely above floor, minimizing installation costs, and maximizing plant layout flexibility.
